How This Platform Was Built

Seahorse Innovation Lab's platform was developed by its founder in collaboration with Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic, used as a development tool throughout the design and coding process. We believe in being transparent about how we build our tools, just as we're transparent about how we work with the organizations we serve.

Scope of Services

Seahorse Innovation Lab provides training and educational content focused on member engagement, program growth, and organizational development strategies (“the Services”). The Services are informational and educational in nature.

Seahorse Innovation Lab does not provide, and the Services do not include, training, certification, evaluation, or endorsement related to child safety, background checks, abuse prevention, youth protection policies, or any similar safeguarding standards. Any organization using our Services that works with minors or vulnerable populations is solely responsible for obtaining, implementing, and verifying its own appropriate safety training, background checks, and child protection policies through qualified providers, independent of and in addition to anything provided by Seahorse Innovation Lab.

Nothing in our Services should be interpreted as certifying, endorsing, or verifying that any individual is qualified, vetted, or safe to work with children or vulnerable populations. Organizations remain fully responsible for their own compliance with all applicable laws, licensing requirements, and safety obligations related to their programs and personnel.

Events and Activities; Organization Responsibility

Seahorse Innovation Lab teaches organizations and their members a methodology for designing, proposing, and running their own events and activities (“Experiments”). We do not host, organize, staff, supervise, endorse, or approve the substance of any specific event or activity, and we do not vet, screen, or evaluate the fitness, background, or suitability of any Event Attendee.

When an Organization Leader approves an Experiment for publication, that Organization — not Seahorse Innovation Lab — is exercising judgment that the event is appropriate to offer to the public, and that Organization accepts full and sole responsibility for everything that occurs at, during, or as a result of that event, including but not limited to:

By approving an Experiment for public publication, an Organization Leader affirms on behalf of their Organization that the Organization accepts all liability described in this section, and agrees that Seahorse Innovation Lab bears no responsibility or liability of any kind for the event or its outcomes.

Event Attendees acknowledge that Seahorse Innovation Lab does not organize, supervise, or guarantee the safety of any event, and that attending any event is at the Attendee's own risk, with the hosting Organization — not Seahorse Innovation Lab — being solely responsible for the event.

Accounts

To access certain features (such as RSVPing to events or enrolling in classes), you'll create an account using your email address. You're responsible for keeping your account information accurate and for any activity that happens under your account.

Cohort Enrollment, Fees, and Cancellation

Some cohorts/classes have an associated fee. Signing up for a cohort while it is in “Recruiting” status expresses your interest in enrolling; it does not guarantee the class will run, and no payment is collected at this stage.

If a cohort does not reach sufficient enrollment, Seahorse Innovation Lab may cancel it at its discretion. If a cohort is cancelled, you will not be charged, and any expressed interest is simply cancelled with no obligation on either side.

If a cohort is confirmed as running, payment terms and collection methods will be communicated to you separately at that time. [Placeholder — update once actual payment processing is built.]

Coupon codes, where offered, apply only to the specific cohort for which they were issued and are subject to any usage limits set at the time of issuance.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use the platform honestly and lawfully — for example, not impersonating another person, not submitting false information, and not attempting to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the platform or other users' accounts or data.

If you are granted the ability to upload materials, documents, or content to the platform (for example, as a Teacher), you agree not to upload any content containing another person's personal information — including but not limited to Social Security numbers, financial account information, medical information, or government identification numbers — without that person's explicit consent, and you are solely responsible for the content you upload.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” Seahorse Innovation Lab makes no guarantees that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly secure. Educational content and strategies provided through the Services are offered as guidance, not as a guarantee of any particular outcome for your organization.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Seahorse Innovation Lab and its founder shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of the Services. This limitation does not apply to damages caused by gross negligence, willful misconduct, or where such limitation is not permitted by applicable law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Seahorse Innovation Lab from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your own violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Services, your organization's failure to independently maintain appropriate safety, background-check, or child-protection practices as described above, or any content you upload to the platform, including any personal information about third parties that you upload without appropriate consent.

Privacy

Our collection and use of your information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
